Abergavenny Cricket Club to host Australian touring team Crusaders

Abergavenny Cricket Club are to host to Australian touring team Crusaders this coming Sunday. The tourists have just started their tour of England and Wales and will play a total of 21 matches over a period of three and a half weeks. They are going to be based in Cardiff for five days and will also be taking on St Fagans CC, Cardiff CC and Mumbles CC while in Wales.

Crusaders are a wandering cricket team from Melbourne, Victoria, which was founded in 1977 and undertake annual tours around the world to help facilitate the development of promising Australian cricketers. The team have been represented by more than 2500 players in more than 1500 games on numerous tours to England and Europe. Former Australian test cricketers Shane Warne, Paul Reiffel and Matthew Elliot are all ex Crusaders players. While the team was established for the purpose of attracting current and former first class cricketers, in reality they are open to anyone interested in the game of cricket to become either a member or a volunteer.
The match will be played at Avenue Road starting at 1pm with 45 overs per side.
