Monmouthshire and District 2016 National Eisteddfod
Fri Jul 29th 9:00am – Sat Aug 6th 10:00pm
The Eisteddfod will begin at Castle Meadows, attracting around 150,000 visitors to over 250 tradestands and stalls celebrating Wales’ performance and art. Join the festivities every day from July 29th – August 6th.

a fringe programme of cultural talks from borderland

Lost Library – Border Country
Fri Jul 29th 11:00am – Sat Aug 6th 1:00pm
Performances start at 11am on 29 and 30 July and 2,3,4,5 and 6 August at Abergavenny Library and finishes in the Visual Arts area of the Monmouthshire and District National Eisteddfod festival site.
Sponsored by the Friends of Abergavenny Library. Friends of Abergavenny Library Service (F.O.A.L.S.) is heavily involved in consulting about the future of the library building, generating publicity and planning promotional activities.
Local artist Catherine Wynne-Paton seeks to highlight the changes being made to our public libraries and questions what kind of libraries we need for future strength.
Catrin Finch Presents – Serenestial
Tuesday August 2nd 8pm – 11pm
Catrin Finch curates a special evening on Tuesday night, Serenestial: Adventure through Time and Space, a light classical evening with world music influences, awakening the senses through music, dance and literature.
Joining Catrin are Elin Manahan-Thomas, Ballet Cymru, Charlie Lovell-Jones, and actress, Sara Lloyd-Gregory, will read poems especially commissioned for the evening by poet, Eurig Salisbury.
Abergavenny Cycle Group – “Up the gorge to drink tea in a member’s garden”

“20 km 250m, Cycle path suitable for children but steady steep climb.
Start at 10am at St John’s Square or 10:30am at Llanfoist Crossing car park, bring picnic and cakes!”

Friday 7pm-9pm
The 7 Corners Cafe hold a film night for young people every Friday. Be sure to check out their Facebook page on Friday for a cryptic clue of what will be shown.
The night begins 7pm and finishes 9pm.

Abergavenny Community Centre – Various Activites
The community centre hosts an ever changing and growing series of activities every week day and Saturday.

They are based in the old Park Street School opposite the Somerset Arms.
Markets in the Market Hall
The market is based in the heart of the town and is always busy. The general market is held every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am-5pm.
The Bric-a-Brac antiques fair will be held Wednesdays.

Abergavenny Borough Brass Band will be playing in the Abergavenny Town Centre on Saturday 6th August from 10am to 1pm.
