Welcome to Abergavenny Now
Abergavenny Now is brought to you by a group of King Henry VIII school graduates, as an initiative to showcase the best of Abergavenny and the unique communities which create it.
The site was founded in the Spring of 2015 and has been expanding ever since.
If you’re looking for Abergavenny blogs, news, events, services, organisations, attractions and much, much more: look no further, you’ve found it here.
Why did we set up?
As young people who grew up in Abergavenny, studied in various areas around the UK and returned to The Gateway to Wales; we felt the town was in desperate need of an online presence and united Community Base.
Abergavenny Now aims to provide exactly that; an online platform that all town locals, fans and visitors can use to share what’s happening, what they enjoy, what they want to see change and most importantly, what Abergavenny is about, now.
How do we want to develop?
The Abergavenny Now domain provides a site for visitors to find out what events, groups and attractions there are in the town, while also offering a creative outlet for users to write, submit and promote their own events and blogs online – because who knows more about what’s going on, than the people who live in the area.
We encourage local groups and individuals to join our team of authors, or simply create their own blog that is hosted through the Abergavenny Now network, and shared on this site. Anyone is welcome to share events that are being hosted in the town, whether that be a meeting, a local rugby game, an art class… you name it, you can share it here.
It’s through co-operation with the public and people with an interest in Abergavenny, we can create a website that is a valuable source of current information and events, as well as a forum for people to write about their opinions, hobbies and interests.
How can you help?
Aside from submitting events to our calendar and blogs to our site, you can help spread the word by simply sharing the website with friends and by following us on our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). We advise that if you like our Facebook page, you select to receive notifications. This ensures you never miss out on any Abergavenny news.
You can also subscribe to the Abergavenny Now free online newsletter to receive an up-to- date round up of upcoming events and the most popular blogs of the month. We believe that with your help we can make Abergavenny news and events transparent and easily available, regardless of age or background. With greater visibility and promotion, and with quality editorials, we can make Abergavenny’s future activities and events flourish.
