The Monmouthshire Games 2017 – Easter Holidays

17th April 2017 @ 8:00 am – 21st April 2017 @ 5:00 pm

The Monmouthshire Games will take place during the Easter Holidays based on learning new skills, developing confidence, meeting new people and most importantly having fun through sport. Each day will be a full day, packed with a range of sporting activities that children and young people (aged 5-12 years) can engage with.

Monday 10th – Friday 21st April (Except bank holidays)

The Monmouthshire Games* 9am-3pm £16/day OR The Monmouthshire Games PLUS 8am-5pm £19.50/day.

Over 30 different sports including:
Swimming**, football, netball, basketball, kayaking**, cricket, goal ball, hockey, dodgeball, hockey, dodgeball, golf badminton, nerf guns, tennis, daily mile (running) rounders, rugby.

*Prepay offer: Book 10 session and receive 25% discount. ** Currently not available in Monmouth Leisure Centre. Subject to terms and conditions.

Friends of Bailey Park Annual Monthly Meeting

Abergavenny Writing Festival 2017

20th April 2017 – 23rd April 2017

Abergavenny Writing Festival is an event for anyone who loves writing and the written word. Held for the first time, during April 2016 at the Kings Arms Hotel. The festival’s aim is to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to get writing. Returning for our second year 20, 21 and 22 April 2017.

Old or young, published writer or aspiring novelist we have something for everyone. The first festival included workshops for adults and children, talks and discussions about books and writing, a poetry open mic night, competitions, readings, talks, and lots of chances for people to take part, put pen to paper and exchange feedback and ideas.

24 Hour Film Challenge (Abergavenny Writing Festival with Blorenge Films)

21st April 2017 @ 12:30 pm

Are you the next Spielberg, Coppola or Cuarón? Fancy being a filmmaker for a day?
The premise is simple; small teams have 24 hours to write, film, and edit a short film. The submissions are then screened in a mini film festival & awards ceremony.
No experience required! The challenge will be prefaced with a short talk on the basic skills and techniques needed for making short films. Bring your camera, phone, & laptop – ‘proper’ equipment appreciated but not required!

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

April Fundraising Prize Bingo For Adults & Children

21st April 2017 @ 5:30 pm

PUBLIC EVENT – ALL WELCOME

Come and join us for a fun evening of bingo for all of the family, with prizes for adults and children. Play the main games as well as a cash flier for over 16s and a chocolate flier for under 16s, plus a raffle and refreshments.

ADULTS: £1 a strip or £5 for a full book of 6 strips. £1 for a cash flier.
CHILDREN: 50p per strip and 50p for a chocolate cash flier.
Raffle tickets £1 a strip.

Every Line & Full House has 1 adult winner and 1 child winner – plus EVERY child leaves with a small prize!

Entry from 5.30pm. eyes-down at 6pm.

Please remember to bring along your bingo pens and mascots!

Black Mountain Jazz Club Night: Azhaar Saffar

23rd April 2017 @ 8:00 pm

After her absence travelling and touring South America, Azhaar Saffar returns with her new project Global Wave, described as new world jazz. Based on her original compositions, inspired by her travels, the music follows on from Sirius B and embraces Latin, Brazilian , African, Arabic and Funk.

The programme also includes the Debs Hancock duo, with an advance performance of her forthcoming Ella at 100 gig. She is accompanied by pianist Guy Shotton, who played at our March gig.

Markets in the Market Hall

The market is based in the heart of the town and is always busy.

The general market is held every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am-5pm.
The Bric-a-Brac antiques fair will be held Wednesdays.
