Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine
7th November @ 11:45 am – 1:45 pm
Struggling with your sewing machine? This short course will get you started!
This course is aimed at beginners but will provide a suitable setting in which more experienced sewers may indulge in their projects too. The course will aim to introduce learners to their machine, and help them to get the best from it. There will be a very informal feel to the class, much like a Sewing Bee! Over the course of 3 weeks, we will look at the basic functions of your machine, and find out how you can make it work for you and the projects you hope to undertake.
Monday 11.45-1.45pm, in Abergavenny.
3 week course, costing £24.00.
This event is happening at the Abergavenny Youth & Community Education Centre
Old Hereford Rd Abergavenny NP7 6EL
2 Day Drawing Workshop
9th November 2016 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Would you like to cross the boundaries of words, images and sounds through drawing to see where they may take you? Are you curious about what drawing could be for you?
Come to this two-day workshop which will help you discover your own visual language. Second date is on Wednesday 16th November.
What is the workshop about?
This workshop will offer an insight into how the process of drawing can be a platform from which to discover your own visual language. Through exploring different drawing approaches it will help you to further your awareness of the connection between what you see, feel and understand and the paradox that when we lose ourselves we find ourselves more fully. When working creatively we engage mind and heart.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is for you if you are interested in communicating creatively. You may have little drawing experience or you may be an artist or designer who would like to stand back from your own practice.
Pam Wright and Claire Burgoyne met whilst both working at Hereford College of Arts. They have continued to work collaboratively exploring their interests in how to communicate ideas through drawing.
This course costs £60 and will be taking place at the Chapel Market St Abergavenny NP7 5SD.
Bad Girls at the Melville Theatre
11th November 2016 @ 7:30 pm
First staged at Polka Children’s Theatre, this energetic, fast-moving dramatisation of Jacqueline Wilson’s Bad Girls has been described as ‘punchy, stimulating and theatrically ingenious…a model of theatre for young people’. Vicky Ireland’s skilful adaptation tells the story of Mandy who’s been picked on at school for as long as she can remember. She’s delighted when cheeky, daring, full of fun Tanya picks her as a friend but Mum isn’t happy – she thinks Tanya is a bad girl and a bad influence. Mandy is sure Tanya can only get her out of trouble, not into it. But can she?
The performance will cost £8 (£6 concessions) and takes place at the Meville Theatre Pen-Y-Pound
