Abergavenny Library launches reading group for youngsters

A new weekly Chatterbooks group for eight and nine-year-olds is starting in Abergavenny Library on Friday 8th March from 4pm to 5pm.  At Chatterbooks sessions children can meet new friends while discovering and sharing a passion for reading as they talk about books and take part in games, craft activities and competitions.  The sessions are free and all are welcome.

Chatterbooks is the UK’s largest network of children’s reading groups and has been created by national charity, The Reading Agency.

Councillor Paul Jordan, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for community hubs and libraries said: “Reading for pleasure is a very important factor in helping children achieve academic success and it opens their eyes to a whole wide world, not only in childhood but throughout life.”
