Residents urged to help shape the future of Bailey Park

Local groups from Abergavenny, Friends of Bailey Park and Abergavenny Town Team are seeking the views of local communities to help shape the future of Bailey Park. A survey has been designed to find out how existing facilities in the park can be improved to meet the future needs of the town. Local community groups are working in partnership with the town council and Monmouthshire County Council to give the much loved park a new lease of life.

The thoughts and feelings of local residents and visitors to the park are vital to the future of the park to make it an even better accessible and vibrant space for all ages. Bailey Park is a hive of activity all year round with many local sporting groups such as Abergavenny Rugby Club, Abergavenny Bowls Club using the park to compete, train and socialise. These groups and many others will be integral to the engagement process with Friends of Bailey Park and the Abergavenny Town Team.

County Councillor Bryan Jones said: ‘Bailey Park is so important for the health and wellbeing of both local people and visitors. The voice of local community organisations and communities from surrounding areas is essential to talk about how they would like to see the space improved for the future and we encourage everyone to complete the survey.’

Results of the survey will provide evidence from the community and inform the next steps of a funding bid to improve the park and its facilities.

The survey is available via the Monmouthshire County Council website http://tinyurl.com/yce8fe8x survey completed by Wednesday 20th December. For more information please contact Mark Cleaver 07976 791031 MarkCleaver@monmouthshire.gov.uk
