What can you expect with a weekend wristband to Abergavenny Food Festival? There is plenty of free content at this year’s festival. Here’s a taster of what’s on across the weekend.
Abergavenny is famous for the outstanding quality of the festival’s markets. In 2017, the Food Festival have paid special care to showcasing an incredible amount of delicious food producers from across Wales and the UK. Expect their showcase Producers’ Market, Cheese & Wine Market, Street Food & Night Market, plus a shop and drop service, new food producers and community stalls.
The Farmyard area will be back this year, giving you the opportunity to meet the people that produce your food and listen to their stories. For families, there will be live farm animals; have a go at feeding the lambs, churning the butter and spinning wool. The farmyard stage will host talks and debates on the issues facing the UK’s food system, from how to get started in farming to what UK agriculture looks like after Brexit.

It’s back! The Food Festivals’ legendary Saturday night party at Abergavenny Castle is a unique opportunity to rub shoulders with your favourite celebrity chefs. The ancient walls will be filled with live music, dancing and some of the best street food that the UK has to offer. Don’t miss your chance to experience some of the most innovative cuisine of the UK food scene. The festival will welcome chefs Ben Reade and Sashana Souza Zanella from the crowd funded restaurant and food research hub, Edinburgh Food Studio.
The team who met at Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences and come from Noma’s eponymous Nordic Food Lab will be creating a delicious feast of foraged and fermented ingredients. Expect a five-course tasting menu, with an optional drinks pairing, to evolve alongside the inspiration, experiments and ingredients of the season. We advise arriving with an open mind and an empty stomach. Tickets are online available now but likely won’t be around for long!
