Abergavenny Cinema opened in 2011 on Baker Street. It has 2 screens and is wheelchair accessible. The cinema doesn’t take bookings – tickets are only sold on the door, and their listings can be found on their website.

The leisure centre is located in the grounds of King Henry VIII School. It’s open 7 days a week and has a number of facilities available including a swimming pool, a gym, a sports hall, squash courts and multi-use games areas.
The library is located on Baker Street and is open from Tuesday to Saturday every week. It provides access to a great selection of books as well as audiobooks and DVDs and also has free WiFi access.

The skatepark is located near King Henry VIII School. It’s a concrete skatepark and features a good selection of obstacles for beginners and intermediates. It’s free to access and easy to find.
Abergavenny Tennis Club is located near King Henry VIII School. It has a selection of hard, carpet and small courts as well as a practice wall and a clubhouse with wheelchair access. They run ‘social tennis sessions’ on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and offer various lessons.
Bailey Park is the home of Abergavenny Rugby Club, and has long played host to a number of the town’s events – in fact, it was the site of the 1913 National Eisteddfod as well as the annual Steam Rally, and Shire Horse Show. The park is well kept and has a children’s play area.
Belgrave is a large public-access park in Abergavenny that features a children’s play area. The pitch is used by junior football teams, and recreationally. Each year, Belgrave Park hosts a well-attended fireworks event for Bonfire Night.
The Borough Theatre hosts a selection of professional and community productions all year round ranging from comedy to music to theatre. The theatre is part of the town hall building and seats 338 people.
Located directly next to the bus station, the park features the Gavenny River and a stone circle which was erected in 1912 to commemorate the National Eisteddfod that was held at Bailey Park the following year.
The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal runs near Abergavenny, through Govilon and Gilwern. There is a 35 mile navigable section which is populated by many interesting canal boats. The route runs past some fantastic natural areas and interesting landmarks.
What remains of Abergavenny Castle is truly one of the town’s historic highlights. The site is now host to the museum, which is great to learn about the history of the town and the castle. There are exhibitions, and regular workshops and events making it a great day out. Entrance is free.

Located between Abergavenny Police Station and Castle Meadows, Linda Vista is one of the town’s best kept secrets – originally built in 1875 and acquired by the council in 1957. The garden is a great place to relax and enjoy yourself with friends and family, particularly in the summer.

The Sugar Loaf Mountain is around 2 miles north of Abergavenny. It is perhaps one of the most defining views of Abergavenny. From the summit, it’s possible to see as far as the Bristol Channel, and Somerset. It’s a popular mountain to climb, offering a relatively easy path from the car park.
The Sugarloaf Vineyards are at the foot of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. The wine produced at the vineyard has won multiple awards, and they offer tours around the vineyard and wine tasting for groups of 8-25 people. To find out more, click here.
