AM Fest

Sat Jul 2nd 12:00pm – 7:00pm
AM Fest will be kicking off the month with DJs, bands, a Beer Bus, Real Ale trailer, Rides, Slides and Stalls. Head over to Abergavenny Castle to join the celebrations. Tickets are £5 Adults and £3 for Children and concessions.

Shire Horse Show at Bailey Park

Sat Jul 2nd from 10:00am
Also on this Saturday is the Shire Horse South Wales Show, if you love horses this is the place to be!

IYE Festival

Sat Jul 9th 11:00am – 6:00pm
The IYE Festival is for and by the young people of Gwent. Singers, bands, martial arts groups and more are set to take over Bailey Park in this debut event!

Poetry at the Hen & Chickens

Tue Jul 12th 8:00pm – 10:00pm
Newscastle born Pauline Plummer and Josephine Scott will be upstairs at the Hen & Chicks doing spoken word poetry. Entry is £5.

Abergavenny Festival of Cycling 2016

Fri Jul 15th from 5pm
The streets of Abergavenny will again be filled with the elites in British cycling. Be sure to head into town to catch the race! The festival continues on the Saturday 16th, cycling out of the town from Bailey Park, finishing with the Gran Prix on Sunday from 11am-3.30pm.

Dutch jazz-company act – The Busquitos at the Melville Centre

Fri Jul 15th 7:00pm – 11:30pm
The Melville Centre in Pen-y Pound will be holding a night of jazz with Dutch jazz group The Busquitos with a pianist at the bar.

Friends of Castle Meadows: Butterflies in Castle Meadows, with Jeff Davies

Sat Jul 16th 11:00am – 1:00pm
Meeting at Mill Street, the group will be heading into castle meadows.

Cycle ride: Tour D’Abergavenny

Sun Jul 17th 10:00am – 4:00pm
Meet outside the post office at 10am to join the Abergavenny Road Club watch pro racing in the town, as the Abergavenny Festival of Cycling reaches its close.

Cartoon Circus Live

Mon Jul 18th 1:30pm – 3:00pm
All the fun of the circus comes to Crickhowell Clarence Hall on Monday 18th July at 1.30pm when television’s National Clown Theatre stages their all new, interactive, laughter-packed stage show “Cartoon Circus Live”. Combining the comedy of pantomime with the thrill of the circus the 80 minute show features some of Britain’s funniest clowns, traditional slapstick comedy, magic, illusions, balancing, high flying diabolos, cartoon characters, plate spinning, an acrobatic human slinky, puppets, prizes and surprises. There is even a performing piranha.“We are delighted to be coming to Crickhowell for a very special visit” said Charlie Cheesecake the shows chief laughter maker. “We are bringing bucketfuls of laughs & gallons of fun. It’s a show for all the family whatever the weather”.

Life Drawing Workshop at Abergavenny Youth & Community Education Centre

A day drawing from a life model, an opportunity to test your drawing skills and explore the human form. For experienced artist or for those wanting to try something new.
£20.00 plus model cost/ a chost model.
Spaces are limited, book early to avoid disappointment.

Barry Island Coach Trip with the ACE

The ACE have planned a coach trip to Barry Island leaving the bus station at 8.30am. Tickets cost £9 return per person.

Emergency First Aid Course Abergavenny Youth & Community Education Centre

Mon Jul 25th 9:30am – 3:30pm
The emergency first aid training will be held at the Abergavenny Youth & Community Education Centre on the Old Hereford Road, and will cost £55.

Food Safety (Level 2) Course Abergavenny Youth & Community Education Centre

Mon Jul 25th 9:30am – 3:30pm
The food-safety course will cost £47 per person.

Catrin Finch Presents – Classical Cafe at The Hardwick

Tue Jul 26th 7:00pm – 11:00pm
Acclaimed Welsh harpist Catrin Finch will be bringing her ‘Classical Café’ – an evening of classical music and sumptuous food – to Abergavenny’s renowned restaurant, The Hardwick, on Tuesday 26th July.

Catrin will be joined by four other classical artists including Charlie Lovell-Jones – recently hailed as one of the most promising young violinists in the UK – and Steffan Morris, one of the finest cellists of his generation.

The music has been curated to compliment the menu created by The Hardwick’s world class chef and proprietor Stephen Terry which will feature an Italian and seasonal theme.

It’s the first time that the Classical Café event has appeared outside its regular quarterly home – Catrin’s Acapela studio and venue in Pentrych, Cardiff – and provides a unique opportunity to enjoy an evening of exceptional classical music and food in the intimate surroundings of one of Wales’ finest restaurants.

The evening is also being hosted exactly a week ahead of the worldwide premiere of Catrin’s ‘Serenestial’ production at the National Eisteddfod on Tuesday 2nd August.

Monmouthshire and District 2016 National Eisteddfod

The Eisteddfod is a showcase for music, dance, visual arts, literature, original perfomances and much more. Encompassing all aspects of the arts and culture in Wales, it is an inclusive and welcoming festival, which attracts thousands of Welsh learners and those who do not speak the language as well as Welsh speakers every year. It will be taking place at Castle Meadows.

Coerver Roadshow Abergavenny at Deri View School

Fri Jul 29th 9:30am – 4:00pm
Coerver Coaching is “The World’s Number 1 Soccer Skills Teaching Method” and endorsed by some of the games leading clubs, coaches and players.

Coerver Coaching are visiting clubs in the UK during 2016 to bring the leading youth development programme in the world to you locally. A team of specialist Coerver HQ technical staff will be visiting clubs to deliver the latest training methods used at the top of the game.

9:30am – 12:30pm / U7 – U9 Players Clinic (3 hours)
1:00pm – 4:00pm / U10 – U12 Players Clinic (3 hours)

£20 per player for 3 hours of Pro level technical coaching.

Jeff Nuttall: Quite suddenly your smile is an architecture – Opening Event

Fri Jul 29th 6:30pm – 9:00pm
To coincide with the National Eisteddfod, this exhibition and event will celebrate a key cultural figure of the South Wales borders. Jeff Nuttall (1933-2004) was a prolific and influential poet, artist and jazz man. Best known for his seminal 1968 text Bomb Culture, Nuttall worked tirelessly across sculpture, painting, poetry, performance art and publishing.
